Week of February 1st

Last week was absolutely fantastic! Celebrating National Lutheran Schools' Week with your children was so fun. I feel SO blessed to be a part of this amazing community.

Looking back, even despite all the crazy outfits, hair, socks, and stuffed animals, your children were such great learners...
They couldn't wait to dive into their country books!
Just a reminder that presentations will be the week of February 22nd.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Did you hear about our discussion on segregation?
Boy, we had some very interesting reactions because of our unfair "laws"...

Jump Rope for Heart - What a success!
 MOVIE TIME!!

Don't forget to come check out our hallway!
We used an app that aged your second grader to look like a 100-year-old, and they wrote about what being 100 would be like...

RELIGION
The bible stories we will be reading over the next several weeks focus on Jesus and His power over sin, death, and the devil. We will learn more about His miracles and how they show that Jesus, though a man, was also God, Son of the heavenly Father. Next week as we study how Jesus healed a paralyzed man and the ten lepers, will will see His love and compassion for those who were sick and in need. Let's remember to start each day knowing that God loves us too!

MEMORY WORK
This week the memory work is a verse that your child will be very familiar with... (They say a slightly different version every day after lunch!) I would like each child to say the verse this week as opposed to writing it because they all know it so well. Just be sure to review where to find it in the bible.
Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!
1 Chronicles 16:34

Also, don't Forget...
Our CHANGE CHALLENGE collection is on Tuesday!! Please remember to send in change jars for our collection! So far we have raised $235.66!! Awesome job! I love to hear stories about what your children are doing to raise their money!

SCIENCE
This week we will begin a unit about weather. We will explore weather conditions and various weather patterns. Second graders will practice scientific processes including making hypothesis inferences, and recording and communicating data while exploring our natural world.
