Last Week of School 2018-2019

Last Week of School
It's the last week of school!!!
Dear Parents,
The end is here. It is time for me to give you back your children, the same children you confidently entrusted to my care last fall. I give them back pounds heavier, inches taller, months wiser, more responsible and more mature than they were then.

Although they would have attained this growth in spite of me, it has been my pleasure and privilege to watch their personality unfold day by day. I give them back reluctantly, for having spent nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, we have grown close, have become a part of each other, and we shall always retain a little of each other.

We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned and enriched our lives together this year. I wish it could go on indefinitely, but give them back I must. Take care of them, for they are precious. They are gifts from God.

As your children come home this week, I pray that they will continue to hunger for God's word daily. I pray that they will keep their feet on the path of righteousness. I pray that their minds will grow in the knowledge of the Lord, and I pray that that God will protect them and bring them healing and wholeness.

I wish them well, I'll cherish them as they walk out the door. Wherever life may lead them, they're in my heart to stay! Thanks for an amazing year!

Love,
Mrs. Klug

Week of May 13th

My heart is overflowing from all the joy we shared last week.
Wasn't it amazing to see your children boldly share God's Word during chapel?
They did an awesome job!
Only two weeks of school left! This week is going to whiz by!
Here's what's in store...

CHRISTIAN CHARACTER FORMATION PROJECT
This week we will revisit the virtue self-sacrifice as we read from Acts about how the early church members lived their lives for Jesus and His church. They shared all they had, and met together every day to learn, pray, worship and break bread together just as Jesus instructed. As we read, we'll ask ourselves this "Big Question" - How can sharing your life, change your life?

READING SKILLS and STRATEGIES
Freckle Juice? Ever tried it? I'm really excited to finish up the year with a class “book club” based on the book Freckle Juice by Judy Blume. We will be reading and responding to the book this week and next, between all of our other fun activities.

SPELLING
This is our last week of spelling. We pre-tested on a second set of "Dolch Sight Words" last week, and your child will only be tested on the words he/she missed.

WRITING
The author celebration was a HUGE success! Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to come and rejoice in your child's writing accomplishments! I'm extremely proud of all their hard work!

Week of May 6th

This week is a BIG week for our class. We'll be busy bees getting ready for chapel and the Author Celebration. Thanks for remembering to RSVP.
CHRISTIAN CHARACTER FORMATION PROJECT
This week we will read from Acts about Pentecost. We’ll revisit the virtue COURAGE, which we define as God’s power for you overcome fear. As we study this passage, we’ll ask ourselves this “Big Question” – How can knowing Jesus give you the courage to help other people?

PHONICS and SPELLING
This week's spelling will be different. We pre-tested on some second grade "Dolch Sight Words" and your students went home with lists that reflected words he/she missed from that list. It was their choice to choose more words or not.

READING
"Benchmark Test" and reviewing "Good Reading Habits" are our goals for the next few weeks. Please encourage your second grader to finish the year strong!

WRITING
Your kiddos are working diligently to prepare for the Author Celebration on Wednesday! They can't wait to share all of their hard work with you.
