Week of April 3rd

HE IS RISEN!
HE IS RISEN INDEED!
ALLELUIA!
Happy Easter! I hope you all enjoyed a happy and healthy Easter break.
My family and I had a wonderful time celebrating the fact that Our Savior is Risen! Alleluia!

Well, not too many weeks left until summer vacation. I know they are going to go FAST, so
we will continue to work hard and finish strong!
Here's what's in store for this short week.

CHRISTIAN CHARACTER FORMATION PROJECT
This week we will read the heart of God’s eternal story of justice for us, His children. Before break, we saw Jesus dead after being unjustly executed. Jesus, however, went willingly to His death as the only perfect sacrifice for our sins. In Matthew 28, we see Jesus risen again, the triumphant Savior.

PHONICS and SPELLING
This week we will read, sort and spell words ending with the air, are, and ar spelling sounds and patterns. Although this is a short week, we will still have a spelling test on Thursday.

READING SKILLS and STRATEGIES
This week your second graders will discuss nonfiction articles and identify the main idea and details from the text.
We are always learning from each other!

GRAMMAR and WRITING
We'll be launching a poetry unit in writing this week. Students will work on seeing the world "through the eyes of a poet." As they practice seeing, hearing, and feeling things in a new way, they'll also try putting those thoughts into words!

Don't forget to mark your calendars for our "Writing Celebration" on May 9th, which is just after our class chapel. This is a big event you won't want to miss!

Here are the kiddos working diligently on their illustrations
for their "bunny writing" we did before break...
