Week of March 25th

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful break, and that everyone feels refreshed and ready to finish the year STRONG!!
Here's what's in store for this week...

PHONICS and SPELLING
This week we will read, sort and spell words ending with the /j/ sound using the -ge and -dge spelling patterns.

READING SKILLS and STRATEGIES
For the next few weeks we will be learning how to determine the "main idea" of a text. The main idea is the most important part of the story and helps the reader understand what the story is mainly about. This can be a tricky skill. I encourage you to ask your second grader main idea questions during their reading time at home as well.

ALSO... be sure to ask your second grader which March Book Madness books are left!! We're down to the FINAL FOUR!

GRAMMAR and WRITING
Students will be practicing and applying their knowledge of story elements with a writing prompt this week. Stay tuned for a Seesaw post!
