Week of March 21st

Welcome back from Spring Break!
I hope you all had a wonderful opportunity to take a breather from school routines and rejuvenate for the last few months of school! My family and I enjoyed the beautiful weather God gave us (early in the week) with lots of fun St. Louis entertainment, along with some much needed relaxation. Now, we are ready for school again!!

This week is a short week with a lot going on! Because it's an "assessment week" in reading there will be no spelling! Please be sure to give your second grader a tissue when you let them know this sad news. We will also not have memory work this week (so maybe two tissues). As the days this week guide us to Easter Sunday, during our usual religion class we will continue discussing the events that lead up to Jesus dying on the cross. We will read the stories in depth and identify times we sin and praise Jesus for His courage and strength so that we can joyfully receive His forgiveness.
There will be a Maundy Thursday chapel service on Thursday morning and a Good Friday chapel service on Thursday afternoon (after Market Day).

Here's a look back at some of the things we did before break.
Acting out when Jesus washed his disciples feet...
What is bartering?
Students practiced bartering for things they needed...

 Making study guides with partners...
Everyone did really well on the economics test!
Be proud of your second graders knowledge!

The big event his week will be Market Day.
Before break your child chose a good to make or a service to provide for our 2nd grade Market Day event. This event will allow the children to put into practice what they learned while studying economics. On Thursday the "shops" will open and the kiddos will have a chance to shop with the play money they have been earning at school.
Please let me know if you have any questions about Market Day!
