November 16th - 20th

Happy Thanksgiving!
One more week of school and then an entire week off to celebrate all the amazing blessings God has given us! We have so much for which to be thankful!
As the days lead up to Thanksgiving, I encourage you and your second grader to take some time every day to say a prayer of thanksgiving. By focusing on reasons you and your kids have to be grateful, you can use everyday moments to make gratitude and thankfulness a part of your family’s daily life.

Last week your children wrote about the things of which they were thankful. If you'd like to hear what they wrote, come check out our hallway and scan their QR code!
Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing me with the opportunity to teach all of these beautiful children at CCLS.  I am grateful for the fact that you have connected each of our lives in ways that honor you and show how much you love each of us.
Thank you for the love you provide to us through one another.

And, we praise you Lord for all you have sacrificed for us through your Son, Jesus Christ. You made the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. We are grateful for your forgiveness when we sin. Lord, let us never forget how much we owe to you, and let us always be humble before you.
Thank you for providing and protecting.

In Your holy name, Amen.

RELIGION
This week we will learn how to share the gospel by using colors: black, red, blue, white, green and yellow... Ask your second grader to share what they know and spread the good news to others!

Also, just as a reminder, the first collection for our CCLS-U sponsor children will be Tuesday, December 1st.

MEMORY WORK
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

SPELLING and GRAMMAR
In spelling this week we will spell and identify words with "long e" patterns. Please review what "long e" spelling pattern is being used for each word and practice using the words in a sentence. Keep your eyes peeled for a note coming home TODAY about a special book report HOMEWORK. The book report will be due on Thursday, December 3rd. Please let me know if you have any questions!

SOCIAL STUDIES and WRITING
This week will will wrap up our Magic Tree House Pilgrim Research Guide book club as we compare our lives to the lives of the Pilgrims. We also complete a Venn Diagram after reading about a day in the life of a boy Pilgrim and a girl named Sarah Morton, and a pilgrim named Samuel Eaton.

Last week your children enjoyed a "reader's theatre" about Veterans Day! Thanks to all those who proudly serve our country!

Also, as a heads up, when we get back from break we will start gathering information for your child's Famous American report that we discussed during home visits.
