Week of Febraury 29th

Wow! Last week was quite a week!
Your children blew me away with their knowledge about other countries and their abilities to present that knowledge at such young ages.
Thank you so much for helping them persevere through these last two big projects. Not only were they learning facts about countries and famous Americans, but they were also learning about organization, research and presentation, all vital skills as they learn and grow. Take a look at all the AMAZING pictures!!
If you happen to be on Twitter, you may have seen a preview. If you aren't on Twitter, you can sign up for an account and follow me at @CCLSKlug.
There were so many pictures, it was hard to choose!
We had food, music and props galore!
AWESOME JOB, second graders!
Enjoy!

RELIGION
For the next few weeks leading up to Easter, we will study the pivotal events that take place leading to us receiving salvation through Jesus. We will study how God loved us so much that He gave His son as payment for our sins. As we trace the last few days of Jesus' life, together with your child say a prayer of thanksgiving that God gives salvation to all who believe!
MEMORY WORK

As a reminder, from 12:30 to 1:30 on Friday, February 26th the children will host an "International Boardwalk" in the second grade hallway.
During this time your child will be expected to talk openly about their country, share fun facts, answer questions, possibly wear clothes like someone from that country, distribute food, or play music. It should be a very fun time! I hope you can join us!

We will remember to trust in Him even in the middle of difficult times. His disciples did when when Jesus walked on water. We will also be reminded to confidently bring our requests to God, knowing that He can help us overcome our despair and doubt like when He heals the sick and the blind. God is so GREAT!

Week of February 16th

Welcome back to school!
I hope you all enjoyed the day off, and maybe even had a chance to play in the snow! My kids thought the snow made for the BEST Valentine's Day!
Also, thanks to everyone for such a wonderful, well-thought through Valentine's Day party! We sure are blessed by such exceptional families!
Here's a look back...

We also made Valentines for Tilda, our sponsor child in Uganda.
Thanks for remembering to save coins for our collection!
We will have ONE MORE collection in March.

We did a lot of VERB review this week.
Your second graders are experts!

 Scanning verb QR codes...

Hopefully you each received a fun "special report" e-mail from your child about a storm or natural disaster last week. The children did such a great job researching, writing and reporting about their topics! Please let me know if you didn't get an e-mail, and I'll be sure to pass it along!

RELIGION
God shows his love for us by giving us a sign of Jesus' power. This week we will read about Jesus power over nature as He calms the storm, as well as His power and love that meets our physical and spiritual needs as He feeds the crowd.
