Wow! Last week was quite a week!
Your children blew me away with their knowledge about other countries and their abilities to present that knowledge at such young ages.
Thank you so much for helping them persevere through these last two big projects. Not only were they learning facts about countries and famous Americans, but they were also learning about organization, research and presentation, all vital skills as they learn and grow. Take a look at all the AMAZING pictures!!
If you happen to be on Twitter, you may have seen a preview. If you aren't on Twitter, you can sign up for an account and follow me at @CCLSKlug.
There were so many pictures, it was hard to choose!
We had food, music and props galore!
AWESOME JOB, second graders!
Enjoy!
RELIGION
For the next few weeks leading up to Easter, we will study the pivotal events that take place leading to us receiving salvation through Jesus. We will study how God loved us so much that He gave His son as payment for our sins. As we trace the last few days of Jesus' life, together with your child say a prayer of thanksgiving that God gives salvation to all who believe!
MEMORY WORK
Jesus said, "Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." John 13:34
THIS TUESDAY is our LAST collection day for our sponsored Uganda child, Tilda. Please help remind your second grader to bring in their change on last time! The first month we collected over $100 and last month just over $30... Let's make this our best collection yet!!
SPELLING AND GRAMMAR
This week students will work on spelling words with diphthong ou and ow spelling patterns. In grammar we will learn about pronouns and work on contractions since we did not get to that last week.

WRITING
I'm super excited to start a new writing unit - persuasive writing! Something tells me that your second graders will be excellent persuasive writers! We will discuss the author's purpose of this genre, and the language of opinion using "OREO paragraphs" (opinion, reason, example, opinion).
SOCIAL STUDIES
In social studies we will begin a new unit - economics. Students will discuss income as it relates to spending and saving, differentiate between goods and services, and even start up their own businesses that sell goods and services. Be on the look out for some help from home during this unit!
