Last week sure was a special week.
Grandparent's/Special Friend's Day was a blast...
And the operetta was a huge success!
Your children sure are talented (and adorable)!
Only FOUR more weeks left until summer!
Here's what's in store this week...
CHRISTIAN CHARACTER FORMATION PROJECT
This week’s Christian Character
story comes from Acts 16:16-40. We’ll read and learn about how Paul and
Silas were badly beaten and put in jail based on wrongful claims. God used this
injustice to bring many to Him, and to form one of the most significant early
churches. The virtue we will study is JUSTICE. We define JUSTICE as God’s
power for you to do what is right according to His Word. The “Big Question" this week is, “When
are you prepared to seek justice—and to endure injustice—for God?”
PHONICS and SPELLING
This week we will read, sort and spell words with the ir, ire, and ier spelling sounds and patterns.
READING SKILLS and STRATEGIES
As the year comes to an end, I will begin "benchmark testing" again. This “test” provides teachers with a reliable resource to accurately identify each child’s instructional and independent reading levels and document their progress through one-on-one assessments. Having an end of the year benchmark will provide third grade teachers with a great knowledge of where to begin instruction next year. Each second grader has made tremendous progress this year. Be proud!
GRAMMAR and WRITING
We will be sending an invitation for our Author Celebration this week. Please RSVP as soon as possible. We would like for each child to have someone special join us for this extraordinary event. It will be after chapel, in classrooms B&C on the church side of campus. Your children are excited to share all their written work with you! We have a variety of genres to reveal; they've worked really hard this year!
