Welcome back to school! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and brought in the New Year with lots of love, laughs and smiles.
Before you take a look at what's in store for this week,
here's a peak back at all the festivities before break...

This was SO precious!
Party Time!
RELIGION
After reading about all the amazing things that happened during Jesus' birth, this week we see Jesus as He grows up. First, we will learn and celebrate how God reveals Himself to us in His Word and the Sacraments as Jesus, at age twelve, was doing what God sent Him to do in the temple. We will also learn that God's Word tells us that Jesus was baptized "to fulfill all righteousness." We rejoice that through Jesus we receive faith, forgiveness, and the promise of heaven!
MEMORY WORK
And behold, a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." Matthew 3:17
SPELLING AND GRAMMAR
In spelling this week students will spell words with consonant digraphs: th, sh, ch, and tch. In grammar, we will use the present tense and past tense forms of the verb - have - while proofreading sentences and paragraphs.

WRITING
In writing we will begin a new writing genre - nonfiction. This week the students will focus on brainstorming topics they know most about and then break down big topics into headings, or subtopics. My hope is that this will help support your children as they read and research from nonfiction texts for their Famous American reports.
SCIENCE
Students will be excited to start new Science lessons this week in which they had a hand in choosing! We will be studying the basic structure and function of the Human Body. As we study, students will be able to identify major organs of the body, their major function and learn how each relates to personal health.
